Day 8 - Concrete is delivered

Early this morning the concrete truck showed up, and if you are wondering - yes it is cold outside!!!!!
They poured the foundation, the patio, retaining wall extension and footers for the new side deck.

Day 7 - Preparing for Concrete

Today rebar and a vapor barrier was put down.
The retaining wall is also going to be made 6ft. longer.
An additional footer was dug for that.
Concrete will be delivered tomorrow.

Day 6

Today they filled in around the footers and added stone to prepare for the cement foundations to be poured. Rough grading has started.

Day 4 & 5 - We work

On Saturday I packed the kitchen and Forrest packed his office.

On Sunday we removed the kitchen floor (which I won't miss). What a mess that made.

Then Forrest removed the side deck.

Day 3 - Block is finished

Today they finished laying the block.

Andy and Cleo come out of hiding after everyone leaves to do their own inspection.

Heavy rain is predicted for tomorrow. Workers won't be here because it will be Saturday so Forrest and I will be packing up the kitchen and his office. Sunday we will be scraping the kitchen floor and removing the rest of the deck to get ready for next week.

Day 2 - Laying Block

Today they delivered the block, gravel, sand etc. and started laying the block.

The kitties aren't sure what to think about all of it. I had nightmares last night of them getting stuck in the cement footers because of their curiosity but they survived. They disappear during the day and show up at dusk after everyone is gone.

Day 1 - Continued

In the afternoon they brought in the cement and poured the footers.

Day 1 - Construction Begins

Today they are removing the patio and digging and pouring the footers.

They are having to dig through a lot of rock.

Before Construction Begins

I created this blog so our friends and family can follow the progress of our new addition.

These photos show that the rear deck has been removed.

The bottom picture was taken a few years ago and shows the deck we removed (that is Denver in the foreground).
