Day 32 - November 23rd

Sunday - November 23rd

Today we went to Lowes to purchase ceiling fans, paint etc.
Since I didn't take photos of our shopping trip I thought I'd put two photos of the rainbow that we had a week ago - the picture of the full rainbow was taken through our windows on the upper level.

Day 21 - November 22nd

Saturday - November 22nd

We went to Home Depot and spent four hours ordering trim, casing, doors etc. It will be delivered on Wednesday, November 26th - just in time to paint!!!!

We also found carpet for the stairs and roped it to the roof of Forrest's Durango to bring it home.

We have waited to turn the heat on because of the dust but the boys convinced us it was time. Here is a picture of them sitting in the sunshine trying to stay warm. It has been in the thirties here - daytime temps. BRRRRRRR!!!

Day 31 - November 21st

Friday - November 21st
Today they sanded the drywall - messy, messy!!!
We also got our first snow. Rooms don't look much different with just sanding so I'm going to show you the snow.

Day 31 -November 20th

Thursday - November 20th

Concrete was put in the laundry area where the floor was cut for the new half bath.

Day 30 - November 19

Wednesday - November 19

They put tyvek on the 3 Season Room and added a 2'x8' board to the top so that the deck will meet the siding once those are done.
They also replaced the rubber roof on the 3 Season Room because the first one had too many wrinkles in it for the water to run off properly once the deck is added.

Day 29 - November 18

Once again I have fallen behind on updating the blog - so here goes...
Tuesday - November 18
Today they hung the drywall - and what a mess it made.

Day 27 - Drywall is Delivered

Today the 14' & 12' pieces of drywall were delivered.
Tomorrow they will be here to hang it.

The "Boys" and the stairs

Denver had no problem using the stairs the first time - but Hershey wasn't too sure. Hershey is now a pro at going up and down the new stairs and finds any excuse to do it. He also quickly realized that he can check on me doing laundry by only going half way down the stairs and peaking at me. He will be disappointed when the drywall is hung.

Day 25 - 26

Well - it is the weekend (Nov. 15 & 16). The flooring installer came Saturday to take measurements. On Sunday Forrest cut the counter that was on top of the remaining part of the kitchen that we are using so that we can move it out of the way for the drywall hangers. Monday they will be delivering the drywall and Tuesday they will begin hanging it.

Stairs - Before & After

Originally the stairs went from the kitchen straight down to my studio. To get anywhere else in the basement you had to go through my studio.

Now the stairs go from the new room into the middle of the basement. The stairs go one flight, turn and then continue one more flight and end in the center of the basement. The second flight of stairs uses the same space that the previous stairs were in. The upper space will be used as a pantry in the kitchen.

Found Space - we realized there would be a large space that is above the head room of the lower flight of stairs and behind the pantry. So we had them floor it so that we can use it as storage. We will create access to it in the future through the back of a bedroom closet.

That is Hershey in the last picture. The white door to the left of the stairs is what will be the pantry.

Day 24 - Insulation

Friday, Nov. 14th - insulation was put throughout the new construction AND the wall was taken down between the kitchen and the new upper room - WOW what a difference that makes. I was gone while it happened (getting my driver's license renewed) but Forrest was here to help and supervise. I came home to quite a nice surprise!!!!

Day 23 - More Work

Once again there were numerous workers here working on HVAC, electric, plumbing, framing and more.

The plumbing for the half bath in the laundry area was finished, HVAC was finished,
exterior doors were installed, the stairs were completed and the windows in the three seasons room were hung.

Day 22 - More Chaos

Today HVAC, electricians and framers were here.

Windows and doors were delivered and the windows were installed.

The stairs were delivered and partially installed.

A majority of the electric was put in.

Day 20 - Chaos

Everything was quiet on Monday (thankfully).

Tuesday was a different story. The electicians, plumber and roofer were here working. They also came to measure for drywall and insulation.

The basement floor was jack hammered up.

Rubber roof was put on top of the 3 Season Room - a deck will be constructed on top of the roof.

A new hot water heater was installed.

The electricians started pulling wire.

We also covered my studio with plastic. Unfortunately it suffered a lot of dust from the cutting of the cement floor so we are trying to reduce the possibility of more dust.

Our New View

I was able to take some pictures of the view from the new upper room.

Day 17 & 18

I'm running behind on keeping the blog updated because things are moving quickly.
November 8-9.

Forrest removed the soffit because they will be removing the wall between the kitchen and the new room next week once the windows and doors are installed.

Day 16 - Addition of 3 Season Room

We had an additional concrete pad poured for a future three season room. We decided to go ahead and have it built now so they constructed it on Friday.

The basement floor was cut for the half bath that we are adding.
