Day 14 - Still Framing

Framers were back today.
They framed up the roof.

Day 13 - Framing Begins

The lack of activity yesterday was made up for today. They framed the upper and lower level. With the time change it is daylight by 6:30am - and they were here ready to go when the sun came up.

The second dumpster was also delivered. This time it is located closer to the job sight. Thank goodness it didn't fall down the hill when they were delivering it.

Day 12

Not much happened today. The framers were finishing up another job before coming here tomorrow. Today they did pick up the dumpster. Another will be delivered tomorrow.

A Sneak Peak

Here are the drawings for what we are doing.

We are adding a dining room off the back of the house and remodeling the kitchen. The dining room will allow us to have more counter space in the kitchen. Right now our dining table is in the kitchen.

Another big change is moving the stairway to the basement. Right now the stairs go into my studio area. Which means to get anywhere downstairs you have to go through my studio. The new stairs will go from the new room to the center of the basement.

We are adding a half bath to the laundry area in the lower level.

There are actually two concrete pads off of the lower level room. One will be under the deck that will be off of the new upper room that we hope to one day enclose. The other will be our patio area.

Day 11 - Removing Steps and Cleaning the Driveway

To make room for the new deck footers Forrest had to remove the steps that go to our sidwalk. He discovered a concrete pad under the landscaping timbers the previous owners had used to build the steps.

Forrest put pavers from the driveway to the front door so we have something to walk on (looks like I need to clean out the front garden area).

Since it rained last week when the concrete was delivered the driveway became covered with mud from the truck huge tires and other construction vehciles so I power washed the driveway. Forrest reminded me that it will probably get messed up again but at least for now the driveway is clean.

Day 10 - Removing Kitchen Cabinets

It is Saturday and our job is to remove the kitchen cabinets. One more thing I won't miss, or at least I won't miss them once our new kitchen is installed. We put the sink base and a couple of other cabinets back so we can make do until that happens. The wall with the window will be removed to open the kitchen to the new room.

Day 9 - More Block & Grading

While the concrete cures and they layed more block for the retaining wall, graded the back yard and the lumber was delivered. At the end of the day Inspector Hershey checks out the work while Andy and Cleo are wondering what happened to the grass.

Framing is supposed to start on Tuesday.
